Overview

Abilities

Environment Abilities

Ooze Flood
The Ooze Flood inflicts 5363 to 5637 damage every 1 sec and reduces move speed by 25% for 5 sec. Covers ~25% of the room and last for 20 seconds.

Rotface Abilities

Slime Spray
Raining Green Ooze. Deals 6k Nature damage to enemies in cone in front of the caster every second for 5 seconds.
Mutated Infection
The Mutated Infection inflicts 4k damage every 1 sec and reduces healing received by 50% for 12 sec. After the Infection is removed a small ooze is created at the target's location.

Small Slime Abilities

Sticky Ooze
Sprays a puddle of green goo near a target, inflicting 4k Nature damage every 1 second and decreasing movement speed by 50% for all targets within the 6 yards radius of the puddle.
Weak Radiating Ooze
The Weak Radiating Ooze inflicts 4.5k damage to enemies within 10 yards, it will also cause the Little Ooze to merge with other nearby Ooze.

Large Slime Abilities

Sticky Ooze
Sprays a puddle of green goo near a target, inflicting 4k Nature damage every 1 second and decreasing movement speed by 50% for all targets within the 6 yards radius of the puddle.
Radiating Ooze
The Radiating Ooze inflicts 5.5k damage to enemies within 10 yards, it will also cause the Ooze to merge with other nearby Ooze.
Unstable Ooze
Increases all damage done by 20% per application. Applied when a Big Ooze absorbs a small Ooze.
Unstable Ooze Explosion - Launches slime missiles at several random players, inflicting 12k Nature damage to players within 6 yards of the targeted location. Cast when a Big Ooze reaches 5 stacks of Unstable Ooze.

Strategy

Positioning

Rotface is a 1 Phase encounter very similar to Grobbulus. Initial positioning is for the tank to grab the boss where he is and turn him around backing up just slightly but staying inside the inner circle of the design on the floor. Melee and ranged should stack behind Rotface, also inside the design. This is the 'safezone'.

Ooze Flood

Throughout the fight, Ooze will poor out of the canisters hung on the wall, covering about 25% of the room outside of the safezone. The Ooze is random, except that it will not fall in the same place until it has fallen in the other three quarters of the room also. Each Ooze Flood last ~20 seconds.

Mutated Infection

Also through the fight, Rotface will cast Mutated Infection on a raid member which will deal 4k damage and reduce healing received by 50%. It last either 12 seconds or until cleansed. When removed either way it will spawn a Small Ooze so the player targeted with this should move to the Off Tank who should now be standing outside of the safezone, preferably in a location that just finished Ooze Flood if it happened already.

Small Ooze

Once the Ooze has spawned the OT should grab aggro and begin to kite it. The player that dropped the Ooze should return to the safezone. The Small Ooze has 2 abilities. The first is it will target a player and cast Sticky Ooze near them (not on them). This is a smaller easily avoidable puddle of Ooze that deals 4k damage per second and decreases movement speed by 50%. The other ability is Weak Radiating Ooze which does damage to all players within 10 yards of the ooze.

Ooze Merge

When a 2nd player gets Mutating Infection they should run just behind the Offtank and in the path of the first Ooze and should be cleansed to drop their Ooze there.

The Offtank should grab aggro on the 2nd Small Ooze while the player runs back and the tank should try to get the Oozes together if they aren't already.

The 2 Small Oozes should merge to create a Big Ooze, which the Offtank should grab aggro on and continue to kite. The Big Ooze has the same abilities as the Smaller Oozes, except instead of Weak Radiating Ooze, it has Radiating Ooze which deals more damage. They also have Unstable Ooze which increases their damage by 20%. This is stacked each time a Big Ooze absorbs a Small Ooze.

From now on, the Small Oozes should be dropped in front of the Big Ooze. When the Big Ooze has absorbed 5 Small Oozes and its Unstable Ooze reaches 5 stacks it will cast Unstable Ooze Explosion. This will target several random people and launch projectiles into the air targeted at where they were standing. Everyone should move out of the safezone (since that is where everyone is standing, that is where all of the projectiles should be aimed.) Once the Big Ooze has exploded, you will have to merge 2 Small Oozes again and start the process over.

Slime Spray

Throughout the encounter Rotface will also cast Slime Spray which deals 6k damage per second to everyone in its path so players should move out of it quickly.

Thats it. Much like Grobbulus, the process repeats until the boss is dead.

Looks like the rate of Mutated Infection constantly increases throughout the fight. Probably best to bloodlust early to minimize the time with faster ooze response.

(edited to totally reverse my last comment after doing some more research)

the ooze will follow whoever dropped it. you have to get between the tank and the ooze and call for a cleanse or wait for it to drop so it can merge with the previous ooze. so many ppl in our raid didn't get that so they got the infection, ran out to the tank cause they were told to, dropped the ooze and then just ran back into the raid with the ooze trailing them. so many unnucessary wipes because of that

The slimes, when they spawn, spawn with huge threat on the infected person. They need to work with the tank to make sure they merge (upon merging, a "new" mob spawns with 0 threat).

The Cuties Only video (3:55 ish) shows the same thing - 2 big oozes merge, they just die. We were getting very close to a kill just trying to dodge the explosion, but on Thursday we'll try forming 2 big oozes and merging them. We definitely lost our OT a fair bit, they take hard hits and healers can be distracted by needing to move. If big oozes can be merged that would seem a bit weird, since that would almost seem to be easier than the other way, and yet it would get you the achievement.

A little weird but not too odd. Saurfang's and Marrowgar's achievements are basically "do the fight correctly," more or less.

Looks like big oozes cancelling each other out was a bug - on the list of recent hot fixes:

- In the Rotface encounter, big oozes should now properly combine.

I imagine that means ooze explosions will happen as intended when big oozes combine.

Couple things I noticed while attempting the fight last night:

Small oozes are immune to taunt and have a ton of aggro on the person they spawned from. The OT cannot pick up the small oozes for this reason.

It looked like my taunt was steadily increasing my threat on the big ooze in a way it usually wouldn't. Not sure if I was seeing things or not.

On several occasions, a second big ooze was spawned by accident (several small oozes going out at the same time and forming 2 oozes instead of one). It looked like sometimes 2 big oozes would cancel each other out without causing an ooze explosion. We couldn't determine exactly what caused this behavior and whether it's intended or buggy. Some theories were that oozes with the same amount of stacks cancel each other out if it is an intended mechanic.
