Overview

As of patch 3.0.8, the "You Don't Have An Eternity" achievement has been changed:

* 6 minutes
* Sparks expire so that you can't ever stack more than 2-3 at once

The net effects on your raid and strategy are:

* 1 DK is still mandatory, 2 is nice, 3 is not needed
* No druids are required
* Far more DPS happens on the ground, so melee are far more useful

Or, in summary: as long as you have a DK or two, you can bring your normal raid (probably with your extra tanks respecing to DPS.)

Important: make sure you wait a full six minutes after a previous wipe to engage Malygos again: the achievement timer for the previous engage needs to finish. Otherwise, even if you complete the kill in under six minutes, you will fail to get the achievement.

Raid Composition

Tanks:1-3
Healers:5-7
Melee:any
Ranged:any

DK's are nice for gripping sparks to where you want them.

We brought five healers, but six may be more comfortable.

We only brought one tank, everyone else respeced. This made killing of the "ground" mobs (Nexus Lords) in Phase 2 a little slower since the melee had to be more careful about threat, but we had plenty of time and the extra DPS made Phase 1 go faster.

Phase 1: Ground Phase

Engage Malygos.

You want the first spark in camp right after the first vortex ends -- explode it as soon as you can.

Hit bloodlust about 10-15 seconds after coming out of Vortex (your second spark won't have landed yet.)

When the second spark lands, kill it, and all your DPS should hit their cooldowns then (not any sooner!)

If he starts a second vortex, you'll be pushing the time very tight but it's doable. Try to get him to 35-40% and make sure your guild is tight in P2 and knows how to DPS in p3.

Phase 2: Air Phase

Ranged DPS should start with the mobs on the far left since they will go OOR. All ranged should be on the air mobs -- oddly this is a hard concept to get across, since people are accustomed to wanting to cheese the meters by AE'ing the ground mobs. About the only thing worth doing, as a ranged, to the ground mobs is a druid casting Starfall, since it's just a single global cooldown and lasts for 10 seconds.

Your ranged can use the hoverboards after the sparks fade so they can get in range more quickly. Note that you can cast while moving on a hoverboard.

Stay in the sparks for as long as you can and grab any extra sparks that come your way.

Healers MUST heal heavily during P2: remember you won't need your mana for P3, and P2 gets a lot easier as it continues since the air mobs (the ones that do the raid damage) will be dying.

You can no longer DPS Malygos between P2 and P3.

Phase 3: Dragon Phase

You can't DPS Malygos while he's doing his RP, so take that time to get clustered up to reduce the chance of deaths in P3.

We found four healers to be a good amount for Phase 3. We had some deaths, but still won with 21 seconds to spare.

Everyone needs to be good at doing 2x nuke followed by the dot. Don't worry about shielding, your healers should be AE healing (and possibly renewing, based on what you're comfortable with.)

General Tips

Use the Achievement Timer

You can go into the achievements panel (the button or "/achievements") and click on "A Poke In The Eye" and then click "Track", and it will give you a timer that will let you make the go/no-go call.

In P3 if you want to wipe, have everyone dismount.

Tank Tips

The best strategy is to use two tanks: one tanks Malygos in P1, and the other one is one of your DK's from P1.

Heal Tips

5-6 healers, making sure you have sufficient AE heals to cover vortex and the damage in P2. You can take more, but you will probably want to take fewer melee dps then, rather than fewer ranged.

Ranged Tips

The first time you are trying for the Malygos five minute achievement it can be good to stack as much ranged DPS as you have in your guild: the two key burns are the end of P1, when he's flying, and the ranged mobs in P2.

After you have a sense for your guild's DPS, you can get your melee the achievement because you'll know how many ranged you can drop and still make the timers.

Mages are especially good at this fight due to being able to stack cooldowns for the end of P1. Warlocks should respec destruction if you're having DPS issues in P2.

Common Problems

Bloodlust/Cooldowns

Hit bloodlust after you blow up the first spark, and then hit your personal cooldowns after you blow up the second spark.

You must let the encounter timer reset before engaging again

Multiple guilds have failed to get the achievement because they didn't let the timer click down.

To check the timer, go to your achievements pane (/achievements works), click on "A Poke In the Eye" and click "track". You will then get a timer on screen.

Once it reaches zero, it's safe to engage again.

Kill air mobs counterclockwise

They move clockwise around, so start from the left the minute P2 starts, you will save a lot of time on P2.
