The Key Facts

Here's what you need to know about the achievement:

  • It's not the lava wall, it's the fire meteors that come down from the sky
  • It's not a raid achievement, it's an individual achievement
  • You do not have to survive the fight, you just have to have tagged Sartharion

The Strategy

And that last point, really, is what makes this a pretty degenerate achievement. You can sit there trying to dodge them -- but honestly, they're pretty random, and to "do well" at the fight you actually *don't* want to dodge them. We've speculated that the intent was actually that it be the lava walls.

Regardless, though, it's the meteors. Which makes "death" the best possible way of getting this achievement.

We simply took two weeks to get the achievement for our thirty raiders, killing fifteen each week and having the remaining ten kill the boss.

Tips and Tricks

Don't die *before* tagging the boss like one of our warriors did. He needed to be battlerezzed so he could tag Sartharion so he could then die again.

Movies

Of course there's a movie! Watch this if you want a chuckle or if you need proof that you can indeed get this achievement with this strategy.

I enjoy making humorous movies, and I always hope there's someone out there who likes watching them.

What did you do to die right away? Stand in swipe range?

  • Kyth Says:

Strip naked, drop buffs, stand in the lava, and then walk in front of the cleave, singing joyously on vent.

  • Amethystine Says:

You, Kyth, win internets and drakes. xD Though I'mma still try to dodge them the good old-fashioned way. Healer Priest win. :3

Great way to get this achievment, i actually managed (without trying) to get this achievment on a sarth 10man pug ^^ i just stod there minding my rotations and dodging flamewalls and really not bothering about the meteors and when sarth dies i get this achievemnt and goes like WTF. And my guild didnt even believe me at first but luckily i had 10 witnesses :D

  • eMarkM Says:

I suggested doing this for a recent Sarth raid where we were a little short handed and couldn't really do drakes. The raiders thought I was nuts. But we did exactly what the strategy says and rolled to see who got the right to die naked and get the achievement while the rest of us 10 manned it. 10 manning in more or less full T7 is pretty much just as easy as 25 manning it with no drakes, just takes a little more time.

  • HeatoN Says:

10 Witnesses? :P I would assume you to be one of the 10, rather than doing Sarth10 with 11 players ^_^

  • Jaximus (Dath'Remar) Says:

While getting cleaved is how most people die, I suggest doing the following:

    1. Get naked, remove HP increasing buffs, stand in lava until you're one tick away from death, then get out (in 10 man the lava ticks for 1200; not sure on 25 man). 2. Run just behind the tank during the pull, and melee Sarth. 3. Stand in the lava behind where the tank has positioned themselves.

Basically, you'll either die from 1-2 ticks of the lava, a Sarth breath, or a cleave. I preferred doing this as I was terrified of getting hit by an unlucky fireball whilst waiting to die. ^^

One ouf our priests got this achievement during our regular Sartharino (25) kill with 3 Drakes alive. Couldn't believe it but she, too, had 24 witnesses und using our 7 healer setup she surely had a lot to do. Although she admitted this was just pure luck.

I did this the old fashioned way as a healing druid, switching the camera angle to look straight onto me and then zooming out as far as possible, staying away from the other raidmembers. Also, use the following command in your console to zoom out even further:

    /script SetCVar (”cameraDistancemax” ,50)

This way you can even see those meteors rising to anticipate there flight path and where they will hit the ground. Did work great for me. Hope that helps!

Acknowledging that the easiest way to do this achievement is to follow the suggestions in this guide - allowing half your raid to die. For those elitest players who will not accept that strategy and want to do it the hard way.

I've concluded after testing that there is a way to do this sure fold as a ranged dps or healer. I have yet to find a way to do it as a melee dps.

Assuming you are looking at Sartharion's platform and using this strategy. Have your MD bring Sartharion to the southeastern corner of the map while your dps, ranged and healers run in along the northern side and get into the middle of the platform. Then have your MT drag Sartharion up into the northeastern part of the map (on the small island) and keep him there. You will immediately want to hop into the lava on the northern side of the map finding your position mainly to the left (approx. 15-20 yards) of the MT. Stay in the lava there and only approach land when dodgeing a flame wall (you need to be fast since north side flame walls will literally be about 5 yards behind you allowing approx. 3 seconds to move before being hit and knocked back).

Throughout the fight your positioning will not really change except for dodging walls. You will need to watch how out into the lava you go, I found that you only need to be about 3-5 yards from the platform ground. Otherwise you will recieve the increased fire damage buff. I did not find it hard to heal through one stack of it. Using this strategy on several runs to thoroughly test it I found that not only was I able to reach the add tank in the center of the platform, as well as the melee dps and the MT successfully. There wasn't really any increase in movement on the fight and I generally was able to stand fairly still the hole time (outside of wall dodging).

Again this strategy is only for people who want to do this achievement without the traditional dieing method. It's proven after several attempts to work 100% of the time without ever getting a strike but it is not exactly easy and requires a steady ammount of awareness and reflex action. If you do not normally have a problem with those, you can come out top of your game using this strategy as it changes very little in the fight. I was first on healing every attempt using this and I've whitness two ranged dps pull equal numbers using this or standing in the middle. How successful you are will depend on you.

Kyth, this is really the best tactic ever! =D
