Mage specs for ToGC?

I'm curious about Mage specs for ToGC25 as a Warlock since I've seen a lot of different dual specs on the Armory from those who've killed Anub.

The basic wonderment stems from seeing Mages being Arcane/Fire. Yet last I'd read way back when Anub was first being downed was FFB being superior for the fight. So I guess my question is, are Mages respeccing when they reach Anub or is Fire able to keep up with FFB?

Lord: Arcane >>>> all (2 or 3 mages spellsteal the damn fucking nice buff!)

Faction Champs: well,... i prefer arkan, cuz of the burst, especially for the first 1-2 targets. i think it depends a lot on, how your raid is killing him, (only nuke or with good cc,... or with a bit of both )

Val'kyr Twins: ffb or fb

anub: ffb >> all

My guild isn't doing ToGC yet but it is pretty obvious that Arcane is the best Spec for the first Bosses.

In the fight against Northend Beast it doesn't really matter if you use Fire or Arcane. However Arcane seems slightly ahead to Fire.

Arcane is better for Jaraxxus because you need high burst DPS to quickly kill the portals and volcanoes.

Against Faction Champion it doesn't really matter, but the Burst dps of Arcane helps burning down the healers.

Twins: With Arcane and Incanters Absorption you will have 1100 spellpower more that normal and absolutley insane DPS when you get Empowering Light. Nobody should even consider using fire in this fight.

Because of the improved AoE you should use an AoE/FFB Spec for Anub.

Ignite does double dip from the damage increase buff, so it's not all bad for fire, you're right though, arcane is still the better option.

For Anub I'm personally using an arcane build with 14 points in frost to pick up blizzard increasing talents, I was playing wih FFB but i really don't have the gear set to support it.

it depends a lot on the tactic, for our tactic, ffb and fb > arcane
(we have 8 ranged dds to collect the lightbombs and meeles/healer in mid with dark essence)

IA is procced the entire fight regardless of the orbs, so I'm not sure how tactic would matter :P

it does, and yes, our tactic works really good

and with ia, arcane is still doing less dmg, because you have to run a lot and you have NO dots (ignite + lb).

and again, its for OUR tactic, with another tactic, i am sure arcane is better

If your tactic has your DPS running around the whole fight, you may find that you can do better (faster kill, fewer deaths) with another approach.

An arcane mage with Ulduar level gear and Incanter's Absorption can hit 10k on that fight, and it only goes up from there. My DPS was 13,104 this week.
