Default A nice problem for a rogue to have

Hey guys, instead of sticking my nose into Fusion's Rogue forums I thought this might be more appropriate...

I was lucky enough to pick up Blood Fury last week, and as such re-specced so that I could use it.

Before that dropped, I had a great combination with Golden Saronite Dragon and Golem-Shard Sticker, but Blood Fury just does a lot more DPS so I made the switch.

Now, Aldriana's spreadsheet tells me that this new Fist/Axe combination provides no sustainable rotation and I have found that to be true. That said, my DPS did go up by a couple hundred with a semi-broken spec...

Since I currently have a ton of Hit Rating gear (hoping to change trinkets to fix that soon), and some expertise gear, I was able to come up with something that allowed me to spec into CQC and Hack and Slash together by dropping a point or two here and there in Precision and Weapon Expertise, as well as drop throwing spec because I want to get used to not having it.

I don't know how long it will be before I see Hellscream Slicer. It might be weeks who knows. Perhaps a good pair of daggers will show up first and I'll go mute...That's one of the elements of the game that keeps things interesting is that you don't know if you're ever going to see certain loot or not.

That said, I was hoping to get other perspectives on using this temporary approach in the Trial of the Crusader raids and Ulduar.

Mixing a Fist with an axe is very clunky and requires thinking on your feet with your rotation but I've been able to keep my sustained raid DPS fairly descent (about 5500-6500 DPS).

Is anyone else dealing with this yet? What have you decided to do here?

I have the alliance version (Lionhead Slasher) as well as a GSD/Bootblade combo.

Aldriana's spreadsheet tells me (and 2 weeks of raiding now have confirmed) a slight single target DPS edge by mainhanding Serillas (the sword from Freya 10 HM) with the Slasher OH.

Using any other MH with it was a DPS loss though, and I'd imagine you'll have the same results - also, rolling with the Hack and Slash combo means it's harder to get 2/2 thrown spec, which can be an issue for some hard modes, depending on your guilds strategy (and the specific fights you're working on).

Confirmed with my gear as well. I have Malice, but do not have Serilas, Blood Blade etc etc...

With my current gear/spec, the latest combat spreadsheet gives me 7265 DPS. If I spec for Combat Swords/Axes "properly" and equip Malice, it goes down to 7254 (a loss of 11 DPS). Unfortunately with the Hack n Slash Combat build, you are forced to take 5/5 precision and 2/2 expertise, which I don't really need right now with my gear (although that really should be addressed soon hopefully). With Serilas equipped, its a DPS increase to 7291.

So overall, if I had Serilas I could increase my DPS with Blood Fury OH by 25 until the other axe falls...

As for the thrown spec, we do have 1 rogue who is still specced for it to make Yogg/Thorim/whatever a bit easier, but we're both trying to learn how to deal without it...Hard mode Yogg?? Yeah I have no idea what we'll do...
