Bad LFD groups, Revenge of
Add a comment (Comments: 24)

The best part about having a blog is that when I have a bad group and want to complain, I have more than guildchat to do it with.

Filing this under humor for reasons that will become apparent if you read on.

Tonight's story involves my warlock, Jynxx. She is in absolutely BiS Sunwell gear. You know, the stuff we all did heroics and heroic achievements in at launch. I'm sure most of the folks reading here remember that.

Blizzard's LFD tool doesn't actually allow you to queue even for ToC normal, much less any heroics, if you have Sunwell gear. You can, however, craft the shitty pvp blues, put them in your bags (they're a downgrade, but if they're in your bags you get the ilvl boost) and queue.

I got a HoS group. We all zone in, the healer says "lol u can get level 80 now".

I said "What?"

He says "Your gear. You can get level 80 gear now nub."

I said "All quest gear is a downgrade to sunwell gear, the only upgrades are in dungeons, this is a dungeon."

So we start pulling. I'm consistently #1/#2 on every pull against a mage with full 232 T9, only one 219, two 226's, and all the rest 232+, including a 264 (he apparently decided the Frost Badge cloak was a good use of his badges.) The mage was arcane so I had more threat issues than he did (-40% vs -20%), but yet he pulled aggro constantly and I only did once.

The healer continues to harass me about my gear.

Thanks to the folks in #stratfu on gamesurge for sending this along.

Apparently it also works in the lagoon right before Anub, if you want to torture your guildmates who went AFK there.

From the YouTube information:

Song used: Yoshi's Island - Super Smash Bros. Melee

1. Pick up the daily quest "What Do You Feed a Yeti, Anyway?" (Note: Only obtained if Exalted with the Sunreavers or Silver Covenant)

2. Pick up LOTS of Fresh Chum(You can grab as much as you want)

3. Use the Fresh Chum in ANY spot where you may swim (Not sure if lava works).

4. ????

5. Profit

Blizzard is celebrating International Talk Like a Pirate Day today. By heading down to Booty Bay and talking to Dread Captain Demeza you can gain 10 achievement points and, more importantly, get a pirate costume that lasts for 12 hours and persists through death.

Full text for the event from Blizzard's announcement is:

Type: Single-day holiday event
Date: September 19
Location: Booty Bay, Stranglethorn Vale

Spells Misspelled

Occasionally trawling the WoW forums brings its fruit. In this case it's a thread started by Boot, of <NoMaam> on Tichondrius, called Mispellings that make entirely new spells. The whole thread has some good posts scattered throughout, but here are some of my favorite misspellings:

A comic for the girls

Today I saw "Non Player Character" for the first time. It's a somewhat new webcomic about a female geeky warcraft player.

I'm not normally one for web comics, but Mary, the author of NPC, definitely makes me chuckle:

I Can Be Your DPS Shaman
Add a comment (Comments: 10)

I was sending random tells to a paladin friend tonight, such as:

Oh pally yooouuuuuuu,
You got what I neeeeeed,
Even though you won't cast JoW,
Even though you won't cast JoW...

And I remembered something I had forgotten for too, too long: a song written by Creep, a priest in my old guild (Untold Prophecy on Zul'jin) right at the end of original WoW before Burning Crusade came out.

He dedicated it to our resident enhancement shaman, Crosswell (we just called him a "dps shaman" because no shaman was elemental.) Crosswell had been the guildleader of his old guild where he had, appropriately, stolen all the rogue leather. And then he came to my guild where, well, we weren't sure if we really needed a DPS shaman. So we asked him to heal a lot.

Creep recorded it for us all: I Can Be Your DPS Shaman (original: "Hero" by Enrique Iglesias)

Stupid Mirror Image tricks
Add a comment (Comments: 4)

Sometimes it's the day before Valentine's Day, and you realize that you have, in fact, again forgotten entirely about the holiday... Those days you wish you could split yourself into multiple copies so you can get more done more quickly. But part of you knows, it would probably go terribly wrong even if you could... there's always some bug you didn't account for.

In honor of Valentine's Day, I'd like to share with you some delightfully funny moments from a thread on mmo-champion about the stupid things the mage "Mirror Image" spell has done in WoW raids thanks to its incredibly buggy nature:

P-p-p-p-olymorph!

"I saw two of my mages have a fight over the same target .The one on the right would sheep it and the one on the left would frost bolt or fireblast it,they went back and forth the whole time they were active while I and the other clone stayed on the boss.

I have also seen one imagine a line of sight issue and run into melee range and begin stabbing my target while its brethren and I stayed at range(and it was the one that appeared right infront of me)

On one fight one of them did nothing but try casting polymorph on patchwerk."
