This week I decided to try out the “new hotness” in DK DPS specs, diseaseless Blood. In case you have no idea what the hell I am talking about, this refers to a spec and rotation built around the idea of not using diseases at all. Yes, it works, and yes I feel that it is dumb that it works, mostly because it reduces the class to 3 buttons: Heart Strike, Obliterate, and Death Coil.
The rotation here (if you are willing to be generous and call it a rotation) is HSx2, OBx2, Dump, repeat. Now, if you want to move on to the advanced class, you can get crazy and run a HSx2, OBx2, Dump, HSx6, Dump, Repeat, rotation, but that is only really worth doing if HS will actually hit more than one thing.
The spec certainly performs well, and decidedly has some other advantages, most noticeably that the lack of diseases to keep track of frees up some attention that can be spent on doing things like not standing in fire.

First off, a bit of an introduction: I am Dutchrudder, a Death Knight in Fusion of Turalyon. I have accepted the task of writing some blog articles and perhaps even guides if the spirit moves upon me about the Death Knight class.
Death Knights are still a new class, one that is in flux in a few important ways, first of all the relative newness creates a situation where all of the theorycrafting and number crunching is new, and in some ways untested. Additionally, Blizzard themselves are consistently tweaking the class to get it into line with their expectations. This constant state of flux creates a situation where the Death Knight player who wants to perform at the top of their game, must be willing to stay on top of the current prevailing trends and aware of the most recent changes that affect their day to day gameplay.
Recently, I have been afforded the opportunity to DPS in a few raids, previously I was almost exclusively a tank. This was an opportunity that I had been hoping for and one that I had invested a significant amount of time and gold to be prepared for (I bought the best gems for my offspec gear, I got a Darkmoon card, I spent time reading up on DPS theory, etc.). My opportunity came the week that Fusion decided to run very tank and healer light (2 tanks, 2-3 healers) for the vast majority of Naxx. Our other Death Knight is unholy, so off to the trainer I went, speccing 51/0/20, and I dusted off my much loved DPS set! The choice to go blood was made for a few reasons, it allowed me to provide the raid with Abomination’s Might, freeing up those talent points for the shaman who was to be enhancement, and I felt like I could provide very solid DPS with the spec.
